Taking Care of Business-NOT!-and your Health

Hello All:

I am going to vent today!  I can't take it any more! People complain about their lack of income or customers, but refuse to operate with sound business principles.

I am sure you have experienced this as well.  I think "walls of shame" just may be a good idea.  Where businesses who won't take care of their customers/clients are listed. Do business with them at your own peril!

Thumbs down, boo-hiss to:

1. Richard C. who owned the iSoldit eBay store in San Clemente.  He went out of business, stole jewelry I gave him to sell-so I am sure he took other people's property as well.  The Orange County Sheriff they sent to my house (arrogant, rude, another boo-hiss) said that I couldn't prove they had my property and could not locate him based on the information I had.  I do not believe this for a second.

Lesson for me-take pictures of your property, take pictures of you with the owner, take pictures of the establishment, perhaps have your own signed contract.  Has anyone else been ripped off by this guy? Please contact me.

3. AT&T.  Returned a defective phone.  Nothing.  No new phone.  No correspondence.  No anything.  Because it is a small amount of money, I'm going to let this one go.

4. Clock repair person (who shall remain nameless).  Probably good at his job.  Paid him a substantial amount of money to put a new movement in my grandmother clock.  He was consistently late by 2-3 hours, one day did not show up at all,  did not call-2 days later I called him again.  Does not appear to have any business sense.  No apology, no follow-up or follow-through.

5. Shutter company in Southern California.  Purchased through Lowe's.  Lowe's gave great service and to their credit continued to follow-up with this company. I had to call 5-6 times to have my shutters installed and repaired.  Hello!  I was a paid customer referred by Lowe's.  Person they sent changed every time, all made promises that were never kept. How do they stay in business?

6.  Handyman (think surfer dude).  Came highly recommended.  Showed up 1-2 hours late.  Wet hair. Had to go surfing. Then had to go for a bike ride.  Fired him on day 2.

7. Landscaper (think dude).  Came highly recommended.  Took him 4 weeks to do a simple tree trimming job. Had birthday party to go to.  Had to take kids shopping.  Need I say more?

8. Picture this.  Me driving on 405 North in Irvine.  Rush hour.  Minding my own business.  Rear-ended. Thank you God-no apparent damage to my car.  Person #2 behind me stopped (thank you Melissa), person #3 behind her stopped (thank you Sebastian), person #4 behind him did not stop, and person #5 who caused the accident for the rest of us, drove off.
Was person #5 illegally uninsured, illegally in the US, illegally talking on the cell phone, doesn't care, or a combination?

Why am I talking about these things today?  Because how you run your life, how you take care of business affects your income and your health.  When a company or business owner is out of integrity, it is going to manifest consequences spiritually plus either emotionally, mentally or physically or all three.

Do the right thing.  It does matter.  Your health may depend on it.

Until next time...Health-Full Blessings....Dr. Miluna

Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Report!

Hello Readers,

I read for the first time an entire shareholders report.  Yes, I did. It was fascinating! Usually I find them cold and boring and designed so that you won't read them.

Enter Warren E Buffett and his company's report.  Interesting, funny, and easy to read.  My Saturday reading material.  I learned much about his company and vision and simple buying criteria.  He believes that he is entirely responsible for his shareholder's (he calls us "partners") money.  That CEO's should not be allowed to lose shareholder's money and walk away with their rich lifestyle intact.

It is no accident he is so wealthy and successful.  One of the main reasons he is so healthy is because he loves his work.  He says he "tap dances" to work.

A great example for us to follow:  live in integrity,  have fun and a sense of humor, have great people working with us, and do what we love.

Blessings during this beautiful Spring season...Miluna

How is your self-care routine for 2010? Is it working for you? Are you feeling good every day?

Are your holistic care-givers and doctors working for you?

2010, the year of the Tiger (my sign) is the year to take responsibility for your health and well-being. To care for yourself as if you mattered because you do! Your health is the foundation of all of your success.

Re-assess. Re-view. Re-new. Re-negotiate. Mercury is in Retrograde until January 15, a great time for inner work.

Health-full Blessings for your year of Health and Wellness. Until we meet again...Dr. Miluna

Pumpkins for Health and Thanksgiving

Pumpkins are a very healthy food full of nutrients. I read an interesting article in Colonial Williamsburg magazine explaining that pumpkins are part of a large family of closely related squashes that grow throughout the Western Hemisphere. The English word "pumpkin" is a modern version of "pompion" the term broadly applied to many sorts of similar-looking pumpkins and squash. The word's origins are Greek: "pepon" meaning large melon.

Pumpkins come in orange, green, yellow, read, white, blue, and tan. Colonial Americans made pumpkin stew, created pumpkin pie, and made pumpkin beer or ale.

Indigenous peoples of North and South America have grown pumpkins for 6000 years. The seeds have been found at archaeological sites in the American southwest and beyond.

The commercial jack-o-lantern hybrid pumpkins of today are grown to be decorations rather than pie filling. Heirloom pumpkin seeds are available for those who want to grow the old-fashioned kind, and farmer's markets and upscale grocery stores sometimes carry older, tasty varieties.

Enjoy during this season and beyond. Pumpkins are good for you!

I'm in love with Virgin American Airlines!

Yes, I have finally flown on Virgin American! I have been traveling for business on those other airlines and was getting frustrated with their lack of service. It seems they just want to remove service and take away things instead of delivering any level of service.

My husband and I were flying to Virginia on Halloween and next to the airline we flew on was the Virgin American counter. They were the only ones with Halloween decorations and in costume. I thought to myself-I have got to fly that airline!

I flew to San Francisco from Orange County in first class. Not expensive. Great service. Planes with pink-purple lights. Sense of humor. Funny safety messages. Flew back in economy class. Still great service. The WIFI service was out so they issued credits and offered free alcoholic beverages to make up for it. Really seemed to care.

Love Virgin American Airlines. Please add flights all over the United States!

Watch out for the Food Police?!

Sometimes people tell me they don't want to go out to eat with me because they think I will watch everything they eat. What they eat is their business, and if they have worked with me, it will be something good for them. I usually reply, "I am not the food police"!

The truth is, I am a good lunch or dinner companion. I don't insist on a particular restaurant or cuisine, I am not a vegetarian, I will probably enjoy a glass of wine. We will have a good time.

True management of your life and food choices will pay off, but it is not about a diet or deprivation or can't have this or can't have that. It is a shift in thinking and lifestyle.

Be very good to yourself-until next time! Heath-full Blessings, Miluna
